no standing any time

As I am writing out this bog post for you all, it's pouring with rain outside and I have a blanket wrapped around me to keep me warm. Yes, it's summer and I'm freezing cold today. It might be just the fact that it's raining and I feel it's my duty to show these showers some love and excitement that summer is over halfway through.

Enough of my rambling though, I really love how these photos turned out. This is theoutfit I have been wearing whenever I need something a little dressier but still is very laid back and gives a 'summer casual' vibe. The dress is made out of such a soft and comfy material and I love the spotty pattern dotted [pardon the pun] all over it. The denim threads add to the casual side of things but also keeps me nice and water on a still evening these warmer months. And my favourite part of the outfit...the sandals! Ahh, just look at them!! Aren't they beautiful? They are super comfortable and are such a staple in my wardrobe at the moment. I know they are not everyones cup of tea but I love them so much.

Holidays are sadly almost over [I had saying goodbye to freedom but I guess it will be good to get back into the swing of things and my weekly routine]. Hope twenty sixteen is treating you well and you're having the best day.

my minimal jewellery staples

A few months back, I created a new mindset for myself to wear for minimal pieces of clothing and jewellery. I haven't been the biggest jewellery lover but a simple gold necklace or dainty silver ring can make me become as obsessed as I am with my denim overalls - which I wear nearly everyday except when it's thirty odd degrees. So for today's post, I rounded up some of my favourite minimal jewellery staples to run over [and also got a bit creative with photography this time 'round].

Simple and dainty bracelets can add personality to a look or jazz up a basic white tee and denim threads. They are perfect to layer up for  bit of 'arm candy' or wore by itself with a watch on the other wrist. My everyday ring of choice is this gorgeous little piece from Pandora. It's so stunning and delicate - a silver band with small gems around. Most of the time, I don't even know I have it on! I got these earrings years ago and I always gravitate to there minimal look with a grey stone in the middle. My choice all day, every day when I need to make sure my piecing doesn't close over and to give some life to a minimal dress or skirt. Two necklaces that have been stuck to my neck recently have been this one gold bar necklace from H&M [who knew their jewellery were so good!] and one of my favourite pieces of jewellery I own, my Good Luck charm necklace on a gun metal grey chain. And lastly, sometimes my outfit is so boring I need to jazz things up a bit so I add my choice of assorted midi rings, all made in gold metal [not real of course, I wish!!]. There are so many to choose from - delicate gold bands to twisted looks and ones with marble on them.

That's my minimal jewellery round up for you all. Hope you liked seeing / reading about them.

white metal

Jay Jays Pants, Tee by Cotton On, Necklace by Lily Pond, Cotton On Cardigan & Necklace from Unknown

Hey there lovelies! Welcome back to the first outfit post of twenty sixteen - how exciting.

Yesterday is was pretty chilly here in Victoria which was madness since the day before it was over forty degrees. But thats Melbourne for you, four seasons in one day. I had to rug up a little so I wore my black jeans which I hadn't cracked out in ages and my favourite maroon cardigan to keep me oh so warm and cosy. To keep it a little bit summery, I slid on my Birks and threw a stripped tee into the mix to freshen up the outfit...you know, give a bit of life [and pattern] to it.

It seems as though holidays are flying by and I can't believe it's already the fourteenth of Jan! I'm currently taking part in the thirty day minimalism challenge which has been rewarding and difficult at the same time but I will have a whole post on that once I've polished it off. In the meantime, follow my Twitter [@avenuechelsea] for daily updates. Before I go back to school, I'll another instalment out in my 'Currently' series to chat to you about what I have been enjoying recently and some changes that will happen to Avenue Chelsea since I'll be back into the routine of homework, dinner, bed once the new school year starts. Blogging will be saved for weekends but more on that in a post coming soon.

Have a lovely day and I'll have a new post up in a few days time. Much love to you all.

twenty sixteen / goals

Since the middle of December I have been thinking about my goals for twenty sixteen. I already had a few ideas in the back of my mind and these past few days I have been thinking about some others things that I want to achieve within the next 365 days of my life. I'm not going to call them resolutions since I believe there is such a negative mindset whenever someone says the words 'new years resolutions.' To me, they are just goals and a simple guideline to becoming the best possible version of yourself. So without further ado, here are my eight goals for twenty sixteen.

01. Take more photos of my life with family + friends

02. Drink more water

03. Read a lot more, my aim is to read at least thirty books this year!

04. Spend less of my time staring at a screen

05. Remember memories with my memory jar

06. Write everything down, my thoughts and what I need to get down

07. Create a routine, personally and for this blog

08. Have a more positive and happier outlook

The reason why I am sharing these goals on here is because I think these is a better chance of me achieving them if I create a whole post dedicated to them and are not written on a piece of paper that will stay inside my notebook.

Hoping that twenty sixteen has treated you well so far!

twenty sixteen / a fresh start

Welcome to my first post of twenty sixteen here on Avenue Chelsea. I was really debating on what to post on here to bring in the new year but instead of going out on location and trying to pose for an outfit post awkwardly or attempting a new DIY which will 90% fail, I went back to my roots and decided just to write - since that was the thing that hooked me about this whole blogging thing.

I have never felt so motivated for the new year until twenty sixteen was headed straight out way. I couldn't wait to get started and finally fulfil things that I wanted to achieve, check a few things off that list...at last.
Whilst preparing for the new year I thought of a few ideas that I wanted to share with you to help refresh before we jumped too far into January.

01. Have a technology break
Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube...the list of social media goes on and on. So for a day or two, stay offline and don't check your feed or subscriptions. Sometimes it's nice to just have a break from being constantly connected to the online world. A break like this can you leave you feeling fresh and ready for a new start.

02. Create an inspiration board
Right in the centre of my desk I have a board [half cork, half whiteboard]. The whiteboard is great for reminders and keeping me organised, but I wanted to create my own little collection of images on the pin board to keep me inspired and motivated. I gathered my favourite images off Pinterest and printed them out in black and white, glueing them onto white card before cutting them out with a white boarder. I made about twelve but only had space for nine which worked out quite well actually as I can replace them to keep things fresh.

03. Declutter + reorganise
Getting organised and having a good ol' clear out is one of the best ways to start off the new year on a positive note. I went through my wardrobe, rearranged all my clothes, got rid of a lot and donated some to a charities. I also sorted through my desk drawers and got rid of a lot of paper that had been thrown in there and put pens and pencils back into their places. My old posters in my room were a bit worn and tattered so I took them down and put up some new ones.

04. Write down your thoughts
This is something that I want to do more of in twenty sixteen but writing in one of the best things to do if you need to relax and de-stress. Write down any goals for the day, month or year as well as to do lists of things you need to get done and how your feeling in general. It's a great way to clear your mind and get your thoughts onto paper so you can see them. Plus if you write something down, you are more likely to actually do it.

05. Have a pamper session
I stayed in on new years eve and wanted to have a pamper night. I put a movie on, applied my face mask and pained my nails. It was just lovely to relax and have some time to myself before I begin my list of things to do and get a productive start to twenty sixteen.

06. Do something you love
Whether it's taking photos, making things, playing an instrument or watching your favourite film, start off twenty sixteen by doing something that you love. Continue to take time to do it every day or each week. For me, it's reading. I didn't do enough of it last year so this year I really want to read every night which I have been doing so far. Doing something I enjoy helps to stay motivated and inspired, to push myself to new height and appreciate all the good things in life.

That's all for today. Have an amazing twenty sixteen!
